Dr. Dao is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of California and is a Diplomat of Chinese Herbology
NCCA. Dr. Dao has been active in the TCM profession as well as professional organizations. He was
an examiner for the California Acupuncture Committee and also participated in the Chinese Herbology
Exam development for NCCA. Well known and respected for his special interest in reproductive and
gynecological conditions. Dr. Dao is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine,
Pacific Coast Fertility Society, and American Association of Oriental Medicine.

Paul C. Magarelli, M.D., Ph.D., FACOG

Dr. Magarelli is a Board Certified RE&I practicing in Colorado Springs since 1998, Dr. Paul C. Magarelli is a nationally noted specialist in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. He is founder and Medical Director of Reproductive Medicine & Fertility Centers in Colorado and New Mexico. He is Associate professor and UNM IVF center medical director at the University of New Mexico and Clinical Professor at Yo San University in LA, CA where he teaches Ph.D. TCM candidates western medicine with integration with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). He is Founding Advisor to the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Magarelli has presented and published ground breaking research in the area of integrating Eastern (Acupuncture) and Western medical treatments for infertility. Today, he continues to investigate the role of Traditional Chinese Medicine in treating IVF patients, thereby forging the way for the future of reproductive medicine.
Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Magarelli was honored as the recipient of the Reproductive Scientist Award in 1994 by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Practicing Physicians Award in 2004 by the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society (PCRS). He also served as a member of the Board of Directors for PCRS. Currently he is Vice President/Financial for PCRS. He is currently President Elect of the PCRS 2012-2013.
Dr. Magarelli brings a very unique background to RMFC. He has a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry specializing in Marine Animal Reproduction. He has worked for General Mills heading a research program and their learned the value of “bottom Line” planning. With this varied background Dr. Magarelli has developed very Cost Effective plans for fertility care: Planning 4 Pregnancy and has developed computerized information systems with Broadband access and video conferencing to allow remote medical practices to operate at peak efficiency for the reproductive care of his patients. He also prides himself in providing High Tech with a Personal Touch . Recently he developed a Cross Border Donor Program for IVF centers in Western Canada… these programs are one of the most cost effective plans to help Canadian couples grow or create their families.
He has authored numerous abstracts and articles in peer review journals in his subspecialty, and is currently a reviewer for the journal "Fertility & Sterility. His book chapter: Revolution in Assisted Reproductive Technologies: The Role of Traditional Chinese Medicine on IVF outcomes. Cambridge University Press. “Infertility and Assisted Reproduction” represents the first Eastern Medicine chapter in a Western Medicine textbook on reproductive medicine. October 2008 he presented his data on Acupuncture and IVF in Venice and was plenary speaker (2006) at the American Associate of Medical Acupuncturists’ meeting in Washington D.C. He has presented at the Society for Acupuncture Research, American Oriental Medicine Association, and the American Association of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine national meetings.
Dr. Magarelli is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technologies. He is also a member of the Pacific Coast Fertility Society. He is a advisor to the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine.

Richard P. Buyalos Jr., M.D., FACOG

Dr. Richard Buyalos is board certified in reproductive endocrinology, obstetrics and gynecology and
is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. A graduate of the Thomas
Jefferson University Medical College in Pennsylvania, Dr. Buyalos serves as associate clinical professor
at the UCLA School of Medicine and is internationally recognized for his work in infertility, reproductive-
aging, and polycystic ovary syndrome.
With over 20 years of experience since 1983 in ovulation induction and assisted reproductive technology
(ART), he has published more than 70 scientific articles, abstracts and book chapters, and is a member
of numerous professional organizations, including the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists and the
Society of Reproductive Surgeons.
Dr. Buyalos has served as faculty for courses on advanced operative laparoscopy and pelvic
reconstructive surgery. He has received awards from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine,
given prize-winning presentations at the Annual Meeting of the American Fertility Society, and received
the “Best Doctors for Women” award by Good Housekeeping magazine
in 1997.
Dr. Buyalos serves on a variety of committees for both the American Society for Reproductive Medicine
and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is an ad hoc reviewer for several
scientific journals. Additionally, he is co-director for Fertility and Surgical Associates of California.

Jane Lyttleton, BSc (NZ), M Phil (Lond), Dip TCM (Aus), Cert Acup (China), Cert Herbal Medicine (China), Fellow AACMA

Jane is qualified as a research scientist and Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). After thirty
years of TCM clinical experience and having had the privilege of working in hospital gynaecology
departments with some of China’s best known specialists, she sits comfortably with the logic of both
Chinese medicine and western science and feels both can contribute greatly to positive therapeutic
outcomes for the patient.
Jane is the Director of a multi-modality medical centre in Sydney where she practices TCM focusing on
her specialty in gynaecology and infertility.
Jane is the author of the preeminent authoritative text on the treatment of reproductive disorders with
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM): “The Treatment of Infertility with Chinese Medicine”, published by
Churchill Livingston Press.
She is also the co-author of “The Clinical Handbook of Internal Medicine” Volumes 1 and 2, published
by UWS and Pangolin Press.
She lectures at universities in Sydney and internationally.

Randine Lewis, MSOM, L.Ac., Ph.D. (India), (FABORM)
A licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, has studied both Eastern and Western medicine. After attending
Osteopathic medical school, she began her career in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She earned her
graduate and post-graduate degrees in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, focusing on fertility, and
performed her internship at the prestigious Dalian Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. Dr.
Lewis is a diplomat with the NCCAOM, is a professional member of the American Society for Reproductive
Medicine, and is on the Women’s Counsel of the ASRM. She supports, lectures, and publishes articles for
RESOLVE, the American Infertility Association, and medical organizations, and is a medical expert on
numerous online fertility boards. Dr. Lewis authored The Infertility Cure , Little Brown & Co., 2004, and
has appeared on ABC Eyewitness News, NBC HealthBeat; CBS Up Close; PBS Weekday and Weeknight, all
featuring her successes treating infertility with Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is devoted to providing
quality, natural reproductive enhancement.
Dr. Lewis is licensed in Texas, Minnesota and North Carolina.

Brandon Horn, Ph.D., JD, L.Ac., (FABORM)
Brandon Horn, JD, PhD, L.Ac. is a lecturer, researcher and clinician in the fields of acupuncture, herbal medicine and nutrition. He received his Bachelor and Juris Doctorate degrees from the Ohio State University, his Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from Samra University and his PhD in Classical Chinese Medicine from the American University of Complementary Medicine.
Brandon is one of the ECCM practitioners at the forefront of acupuncture research
in infertility. He has two studies published in Fertility and Sterility and several other articles on
reproductive medicine in various other peer reviewed journals. Brandon is currently involved in research
examining the effects of acupuncture on ovarian blood flow and is teaching a two day advanced course
in the treatment of poor ovarian quality (herbalroom.com/seminars.html).
Brandon also has a special interest in nutritional medicine and has patented a novel technique to evaluate
individual dietary and nutritional requirements which is currently being studied. Brandon currently practices
in Los Angeles, and is on faculty at UCLA Medical School.

Brian D. Acacio, M.D.
Dr. Acacio is committed to compassionate, personalized care and takes pride in personally serving each one of his patients. He empathizes like few can because he
and his wife have been through IVF treatment.
He is actively involved in teaching and consulting at a number of schools and
programs including USC, Loma Linda University, Glendale Adventist Hospital, and
Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield.
Dr. Acacio volunteers his time to give lectures on topics of his expertise such as Polycystic Ovarian
Syndrome, Endometriosis, and Recurrent Miscarriage. Dr. Acacio has over 30 publications and

Michael Opsahl, M.D.

Dr. Opsahl graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1974 with a
degree in Biology. He joined Navy ROTC and accepted a scholarship to medical
school funded by the Navy. He graduated from the Medical University of South
Carolina in 1978 and served an internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the
Naval Hospital Portsmouth Virginia. He served as an obstetrician-gynecologist at
the Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan then returned to the Washington DC metro
area to fellowship-training in Reproductive Endocrinology at Walter Reed Army Hospital (WRAMC) and the
National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In 1987 Dr. Opsahl transferred to the National Naval Medical Center as the reproductive endocrinologist
and served at the NNMC in Bethesda as Director of Reproductive Endocrinology, during which time he also
held an appointment as an Associate Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Uniformed
Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). NNMC was one of the primary training hospitals for
medical students at USUHS. Dr. Opsahl also trained REI fellows from the fellowship that he attended at
WRAMC/NIH. He was very involved in teaching, research and academics.
Dr. Opsahl retired from the Navy after 20 years service in 1994. He held a position at the Genetics & IVF
Institute (GIVF) in Fairfax, VA for 10 years and eventually because the infertility medical director, learning
IVF from colleagues at GIVF.
Dr. Opsahl developed the understanding of the symbiotic relationship between the IVF laboratory and the
clinical REI. In his own practice, he has a business model/relationship in which the physician and scientist
are truly equals in order to produce the best possible outcomes for patients, and collaborates with Klaus
Wiemer, PhD, HCLD.
Dr. Opsahl is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a member of the Pacific Coast
Reproductive Society, American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Reproductive
Endocrinology and Infertility, and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology. He authored or co
-authored over 25 scientific papers. He continues to serve as an ad-hoc reviewer for the medical journals

Paul J. Turek, M.D.

Dr. Turek is Director of The Turek Clinic, a men’s health clinic in San Francisco.
He is a former Professor of Urology, Obstetrics & Gynecology at the UCSF and
held the Academy of Medical Educators Endowed Chair in Urology Education.
He is an internationally noted master microsurgeon and men’s reproductive health
care specialist.
Dr. Turek attended Yale College, followed by Stanford University Medical School. Following a urology residency at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Turek was
fellowship trained at Baylor College of Medicine. His 175 publications include basic and clinical research
that focuses on germ and stem cell genetics, and epidemiologic studies of men’s sexual and reproductive
health problems. He is on the Advisory Board of the national Men’s Health Care Network and the NIH
Reproductive Medicine Network and he is the Editor of the Reproductive Volume of Netter’s Images, 2nd
Edition, due out in 2011.
He is President of the American Society of Andrology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the
Société Internationale d'Urologie and the Royal Society of Medicine (London). He has chaired numerous
courses for the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction and the Society for Male Reproduction and
Urology. In San Francisco, he recently founded a volunteer medical clinic powered by retired physicians
for the working uninsured. His hobbies include vintage cars and longboard surfing.

Dawn M. Upchurch, Ph.D.
Dr. Upchurch is Professor at UCLA School of Public Health and is a health demographer and epidemiologist. She received her AB at Stanford University and
her Ph.D. at The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She has
conducted over 20 years of NIH-funded research in women's health, employing
biopsychosocial models to better understand women's health and well-being over
the life-span, including reproductive health.
Dr. Upchurch is currently completing her Masters in TCM at Emperors College of
Traditional Oriental Medicine and is conducting TCM research.

Christine Briton-Jones PhD HCLD, trained in Australia and worked in combined
research and clinical positions in Australia and in Hong Kong before joining ART
Reproductive Center in Beverly Hills, California.
Dr. Briton-Jones has been working in clinical embryology for more than 20 years and has participated in
refining and developing the laboratory techniques that have contributed to the growing success of
assisted reproductive technologies with more than 70 peer reviewed scientific manuscripts and abstracts
published in international journals. She is a current member of the Editorial Board of Reproductive Biology
and Endocrinology Journal (RBEJ) and is an ad hoc reviewer for: Journal of Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology, Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology Journal Online, Journal of Assisted Reproduction

Christopher S. Sipe, M.D.

Christopher Sipe, M.D. is board-certified in Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility,
Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed his residency training at Northwestern
University, where he received numerous awards for excellence in laparoscopic and
hysteroscopic surgery. Following residency, Dr. Sipe started a successful OB/GYN
practice and was chosen by Consumers’ Research Council of America as one of
“America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists.” He completed Fellowship training
